Research interest in the Hong group lies at the interface of organic, organometallic, and biological catalyses. Development of efficient, practical, and selective synthetic methods that generate minimal byproducts is of critical importance in both academic and industrial research. Our group focuses on the development of efficient and catalytic synthetic methods adopting the concepts in homogeneous, heterogeneous, and biological catalyses. Our research program combines reaction development, catalyst and ligand design, investigation of fundamental reaction mechanisms, and novel catalysis development.
